Frailty…

Jules_Joseph_LeFebvre_-_Morning_Glory_-_1879

Jules LeFebvre “Morning Glory” 1879

frailty?

not in her
breast
where her heart shines
like a thousand suns

iron and steel
dwell in these hands
that touch
my tattered soul
with the grace of
an angel’s feather

in the union
of our kiss
Acropolean Marble
that sees the dawn’s glint
from Athena’s bright spear

and in her dark eyes
all the gravity of the earth
captures light and my helpless heart
and bends them to her will

more’s the question,
was there ever a finer
trellis than She?

her whole
and wondrous frame
supporting these delicate
blooms

for
Entwined within
her mahogany tresses
morning glories
may borrow Her resolve
and outlast
the ending
of all things

How romantic – such Olympian grace and strength! My, what have we come to these days?

She does have a fierce look in her eyes, doesn’t she? This is beautiful, Eric. I love this part the best:
    “and in her dark eyes
all the gravity of the earth
captures light and my helpless heart
and bends them to her will”
I love when you write about where works of art take your heart. (ha, that rhymes!) πŸ˜€

If there was a door readily available, you just kicked that bad-boy down… Especially here:

    “and in her dark eyes
all the gravity of the earth
captures light and my helpless heart
and bends them to her will

    more’s the question,
    was there ever a finer
    trellis than She?

    her whole
    and wondrous frame
    supporting these delicate
    blooms”

Very nice work, Eric. Very nice, indeed.
