The Sword in the Stone…

It was deep
within the arboreal reaches
of my soul
that she came upon
the stone
moss-covered and grey
a single blade
pierced the surface
down to the hilt
glittering golden
in a shaft of dappled sunlight
she could have passed it by
this relic of my younger days
but she approached
planted her feet firmly
and grasped the pummel
and summoning
all she ever knew of me
she pulled with all her might
and removed the steel
that laced each beat of my heart
with pain
and I remain
ever thankful to her
this once and future queen

She who holds the blade

She who holds the blade — anyone lucky enough to inspire such an image from you is indeed a queen. Beautiful, Poet.

Oh, this is SO good again! Do you ever get an off day when you produce less than stellar stuff? I don’t believe you do, ever ❤

I love this anaology Eric. Your speaker like the stone with the sword in it, causing him pain. And she like King Arthur but Instead a Queen, who pulls the sword from the stone (the speaker’s heart) and frees him from pain with her love. She brings back the joy, youthfulness, and vitality to his life. Exquisitely written my friend 😊
